This paid position offers valuable hands-on experience across multiple specialties, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide chairside support during dental procedures by preparing treatment rooms, passing instruments, and managing materials efficiently
- Take and process dental X-rays in compliance with radiation safety standards and HIPAA regulations
- Accurately document patient information, treatment notes, and medical histories using EMR systems such as Dentrix
- Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Prepare patients for procedures by clearly explaining treatments and ensuring their comfort
- Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment through proper sterilization, aseptic techniques, and biohazard disposal
- Assist with front office duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information
- Support pediatric procedures using age-appropriate communication to create a positive experience for younger patients
- Utilize advanced technology such as 3D scanners and digital imaging tools
- Safeguard patient confidentiality and ensure full compliance with HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a dental office preferred, especially in general or pediatric dentistry
- Knowledge of dental assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, and sterilization practices
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix.
- Experience taking dental radiographs in accordance with safety standards
- Familiarity with dental coding and documentation is a plus
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and excellent patient care
