Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when necessary, ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices tailored for children and their parents
- Manage medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with dental imaging procedures and maintain accurate medical records and coding
- Support the dental team in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient environment
- Handle administrative duties as needed, including dental receptionist tasks such as scheduling appointments and updating patient information
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental assisting, preferably within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and effectively while adhering to radiation safety standards
- Familiarity with medical imaging technologies including 3D scanners is a plus
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and data security
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members
- Certification in dental assisting or related credentials preferred; ongoing training in pediatric dentistry is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
