Job Summary

The Brine & Batch Formulation Specialist is responsible for the accurate preparation, testing, adjustment, documentation, and delivery of brines, emulsions, lixates, and other formulated solutions used in production. This position requires a strong understanding of formulation processes, ingredient characteristics, mathematical calculations, titration, quality specifications, process controls, and production documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Accurately document batch information, ingredient usage, material movements, adjustments, testing results, and production transactions in PLEX and required paper records.

· Maintain accurate PLEX inventory levels and reconcile system quantities with physical inventory.

· Maintain accurate ingredient and batch traceability, including verification of ingredient lot information and material usage.

· Follow all applicable food safety, GMP, sanitation, quality, and safety requirements associated with formulation operations.

· Verify incoming vinegar acid levels and document results according to established procedures.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready formulation area and ensure equipment is properly cleaned and prepared for subsequent batches.

· Perform equipment changeovers and verify formulation equipment is properly prepared and ready for production.

· Monitor production requirements and proactively prepare and deliver brines and formulated products to prevent production delays.

· Communicate batch status, testing results, formulation concerns, equipment issues, material availability, and production needs to Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other appropriate personnel.

· Identify and escalate out-of-specification, food safety, quality, equipment, or process conditions and assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions.

· Monitor ingredient and material inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies that could impact production.

· Minimize material waste through accurate batching, measurement, ingredient handling, inventory control, and documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

· Complete required inventory adjustments, true-ups, scrap transactions, and material reconciliations accurately and in a timely manner.

· Create and maintain SDS labels and other required formulation documentation.

· Assist with investigations of formulation-related production issues and identify opportunities to improve formulation accuracy, quality, safety, material usage, and production efficiency.

· Maintain effective communication between shifts to ensure continuity of batching and formulation operations.

· Assist with inventory cycle counts, physical inventory verification, and investigation of discrepancies between physical inventory, batch records, and PLEX transactions.

· Serve as a technical resource for brine and formulation processes within the production department.

· Assist in training employees on proper batching, testing, documentation, equipment operation, and formulation procedures as assigned.

· Assist with the development and implementation of standardized work instructions and process improvements related to formulation operations.

· Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate records and demonstrating compliance with established procedures.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· 1 years production experience required.

· 2 years of scientific lab experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

· Strong, logical decision making skills.

· Experience with time management and multitasking.

· Exhibit sense of ownership and accountability.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Strong math skills; basic calculations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic percent’s and fractions.

· Demonstrated comfort with data entry and basic computer skills.

· Should have good verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to efficiently coordinate work with co-workers and take directions from superiors.

· Awareness of the safety and official procedures for handling goods and supplies.

· Ability to effectively manage time and meet set targets and deadlines.

· PLEX and iPad literate.

· Ability to multitask.

· Ability to navigate through our SDS booklets and make SDS labels.

· Ability to change vinegar tanks and salt silos physically and in PLEX.

· Great housekeeping skills.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

· Provide necessary papers allowing holder to work legally in the United States.
