Position Overview
The Vice President of Human Resources serves as the senior HR executive responsible for developing and executing human capital strategies that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and workforce engagement across the health system. This role provides strategic leadership in talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, labor relations, HR compliance, and workforce planning.
The VP of HR partners closely with executive leadership to align HR programs with hospital operational objectives while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and healthcare workforce standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide human resources strategies aligned with organizational objectives and healthcare workforce needs.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development.
- Lead HR transformation initiatives designed to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and employee engagement.
Organizational Development & Culture
- Drive culture change initiatives, leadership development programs, and employee engagement strategies.
- Design and implement management training and staff development programs.
- Promote a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Develop recruitment strategies to attract and retain clinical, administrative, and executive talent in a competitive healthcare market.
- Oversee workforce planning initiatives to address staffing shortages and operational needs.
- Lead compensation and benefits strategies to ensure competitiveness and workforce retention.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Oversee design and implementation of compensation structures and benefits programs.
- Manage HRIS systems, payroll operations, and HR compliance reporting.
- Develop policies and procedures to ensure operational consistency and regulatory compliance.
Employee & Labor Relations
- Lead employee relations initiatives including conflict resolution, workplace investigations, and policy enforcement.
- Manage labor relations, union negotiations, and grievance resolution where applicable.
- Provide leadership on employment law compliance including EEOC and regulatory matters.
HR Department Leadership
- Oversee HR staff and departmental operations including talent acquisition, benefits administration, and employee relations.
- Establish HR performance metrics and service delivery standards.
- Implement standard operating procedures to improve HR effectiveness and responsiveness.
Qualifications
Education
- MBA or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, or related discipline required
Experience
- 15 years of progressive human resources leadership experience
- Significant HR leadership experience within healthcare systems, hospitals, or large organizations
- Demonstrated success in HR transformation, compensation strategy, and workforce development
- Experience managing HR operations for organizations with 1,000 employees preferred
