Hastings College seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure faculty member in Theatre. This is a one-year appointment to begin in August 2026 that may be renewed based on performance, department needs, and institutional funding.

The rank is open and will be determined based on the successful candidate's professional background, academic credentials, and depth of experience. 

The Instructor of Theatre at Hastings College will contribute to the vibrant academic environment by providing high-quality instruction in theatre arts. This role is essential for delivering specialized knowledge and practical skills to students, fostering their artistic and intellectual development within the theatre program. 

The faculty member is responsible for coordinating, planning and evaluating classroom instruction; accountable for ensuring that the curriculum and teaching is within the expectations for learning of the College; ensuring that program and course curriculum is up to date, well developed, engaging, and appropriate for current application; directing plays as needed; and supervising students who are directing plays. The position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of theatre courses. 

  • Direct plays. 

  • Instruct within the block schedule, utilizing 8-week terms to facilitate focused, immersive learning.

  • Serve as an academic advisor to students.

  • Contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Theatre or a related field; or a Master's degree in Theatre or relevant related advanced degree. 
  • Previous teaching and directing experience is preferred.
