POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The School Social Worker provides social, emotional, and behavioral support to students by working directly with students and families, supporting IEP development and implementation, and creating and monitoring behavior intervention plans. This role collaborates with school staff, provides crisis support, and connects families to school and community resources to promote student success.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Social Work.
- Approval by the State Department of Education as a school social worker.
- One year experience in school social work practice in a school setting which can include master's level social work internship.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform comprehensive SSW evaluations and re-evaluations for students that may qualify for special education or are already on special education caseload.
- Basic knowledge of Individual Education Plan, Initial or Re-Evaluation Meeting, Student Study Team, Multi-Evaluation Team Meeting, Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Improvement Plan.
- Able to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, and outside support resources.
- Provide individual and group social-emotional support to students.
- Meet and collaborate with families, staff, and administration to support student needs.
- Participate in IEP meetings and support IEP development and implementation.
- Develop, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with school, district, and legal requirements.
