We're hiring a Senior SDET (Engineer Level 4) to lead automation initiatives and mentor our client’s QA team. This role combines hands-on coding with leadership responsibilities, focusing on API testing and automation for our client’s Digital applications.
Job Title: Senior SDET
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite)
Contract: 12 Months
Hourly Rate: $80-84 (W2)
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as technical lead, mentoring 5–7 QA team members
- Spend ~3–4 hours/day on Java coding and automation
- Design and maintain API test automation frameworks using Karate, Rest Assured, and Cucumber
- Drive automation strategy and ensure quality across web and backend applications
- Collaborate with product owners and cross-functional teams
- Validate data ingestion within AWS environments
What We’re Looking For:
- 8–10 years in automation testing and Java development (10–20 years acceptable)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
Strong expertise in:
- Java (advanced coding skills)
- Automation frameworks: Karate, Rest Assured, Cucumber
- API and UI testing
- Leadership experience managing QA teams
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Azure DevOps, and Agile practices
Nice to Have:
- Python, AWS Cloud, Microservices architecture
- Performance testing, TDD, DevOps tools
