Role Description This full-time, Associate Attorney role is based in Troy, MI. The Associate Attorney will manage a litigation-focused caseload, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, conducting legal research, and preparing legal memoranda. Daily responsibilities include appearing in court for motion hearings, conferences, and trials under the supervision of senior attorneys, as well as taking and defending depositions. The role involves advising clients on legal rights and risks, participating in settlement negotiations, and collaborating with colleagues, paralegals, and support staff to develop case strategies. The Associate Attorney will also assist with case evaluation, reporting to clients and insurers, and maintaining organized, timely case files.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law with the ability to manage civil litigation matters and appear in court.
- Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to clients.
- Advanced Research skills, including case law, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources.
- Effective Negotiation skills for mediations, settlement discussions, and client advocacy.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission (or eligibility for prompt admission) to the Michigan Bar.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, including drafting briefs, motions, and correspondence.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to ethical practice, professionalism, and collaborative teamwork.
- Prior litigation or clerkship experience is preferred but not required for highly qualified candidates.
