This role will be responsible for overseeing the architecture, operations, and acquisition of data across the organization and in service to our front-line teams and clients. You will lead and grow high-performing teams in data architecture, data operations development, and data acquisition, driving excellence across performance, reliability, and scalability of our data systems.

Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the enterprise data platform to support high performance, scalability, and AI/ML readiness.
- Lead and manage multiple teams, setting vision, priorities, and execution plans.
- Ensure high standards of data performance, data quality, system efficiency, and cost optimization across data infrastructure.
- Oversee triage and resolution of data-related system issues, acting as the escalation point for front-line support.
- Develop and implement strategies for data ingestion and integration from internal and external sources.
- Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative team culture, focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Create clear end-user focused communication processes for data platform announcements, events, and issues.
- Partner closely with technology, product, and business leaders to align data platform strategy with organizational goals.
- Own and manage departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and operational needs.
- Drive communication, documentation, and transparency across data platform initiatives, ensuring stakeholders are informed and aligned.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and architecture.
- 10 years of experience in data engineering, including 5 years in leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams in complex, distributed environments.
- Deep expertise in modern data architectures, data pipelines, and cloud-based platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS).
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and security best practices.
- Experience supporting AI/ML initiatives through scalable and well-governed data infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead culturally and technically within teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.
- Prior experience in a Director-level or above role within a high-growth or enterprise-scale environment.
- Familiarity with tools like Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, Airflow, Kafka, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of retail data environments and their associated compliance requirements.
