Driver's Education Classroom Teacher - Summer Summary:

The Driver's Education Classroom Teacher will teach students the theoretical knowledge required for safe and responsible driving. This includes traffic laws, road signs, safe driving practices, and other key driving concepts in a classroom setting. The teacher will assess student understanding through written tests and assignments, foster engagement, and maintain a positive learning environment. They will also communicate with parents about student progress and ensure instructional practices align with state and district requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide Classroom Instruction: Teach students traffic laws, road signs, safe driving practices, and other essential driving concepts in a structured classroom environment.
2. Prepare Lesson Plans: Develop comprehensive lesson plans that align with state curriculum standards and driver education objectives, ensuring all topics are covered.
3. Assess Student Understanding: Administer written tests, quizzes, and assignments to evaluate students' knowledge of driving theory and ensure they understand key concepts.
4. Foster Classroom Engagement: Encourage active participation in discussions, group activities, and instructional videos to promote understanding and retention of driving information.
5. Maintain Accurate Records: Track student attendance, grades, and progress throughout the course, ensuring proper documentation of achievements and areas needing improvement.
6. Promote Safe Driving Habits: Teach students the importance of responsible, defensive driving and emphasize the impact of their driving behavior on safety and the community.
7. Provide Feedback: Offer timely and constructive feedback on students' written work, identifying areas for improvement and reinforcing positive learning outcomes.

Qualifications:

Professional Educator License (PEL) or eligible for appropriate license

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position primarily involve sitting, standing, and walking within the classroom environment. The teacher must be able to move around the classroom to interact with students, monitor activities, and assist with assignments or discussions. There may be occasional lifting or carrying of instructional materials such as textbooks, papers, or classroom supplies. The teacher must also be able to use a computer, projector, or other classroom technology for presentations and student assignments.
