Job Title:

Teacher on Special Assignment - Assessment Specialist 

 

Job Summary:

The Assessment Specialist will manage, coordinate, monitor, and proctor district-wide activities related to assessments.  Possesses knowledge and experience teaching in a Dual Language program and is knowledgeable about biliteracy and bilingual acquisition as it relates to programming and assessments. 

 

Qualifications:

Professional Educator License (PEL) or eligible for the appropriate license

Minimum of five years of effective classroom/school setting experience 

Bilingual; English/Spanish required 

 

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Staff.

 

Reports to:

Assistant Superintendent  

 

Terms of Employment:

This is a 9-month position—salary and benefits established by the Board of Education. The position retains the Harvard Education Association membership and is part of the Collective Bargaining Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Meets quarterly to develop and monitor, in collaboration with administration, the assessment calendar. 
  2. Works with principals, directors, and team leads to develop plans for assessing and monitoring the progress of all students.  
  3. Collaborates with directors and building administration with the design of professional development for assessment programs.
  4. Presents, in collaboration with Administration, district assessment data, annually, to The Board of Education.
  5. Facilitates the ordering and distribution of assessment materials with building administrators.
  6. Assists in the development of budgets including assessment materials and procedures.
  7. Conducts the assessments for initial EL Identification and Placement.
  8. Works with principals, directors, and team leads to organize the communication of assessment results with all stakeholders. 
  9. Assumes responsibilities for entering and retrieving student data in Powerschool, ECRA, and ELLevation including but not limited to state reports and administrative reports. 
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned by

  • Must demonstrate a record of effectiveness in their own teaching
  • Must have excellent planning and organization skills
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with others 
  • Must have strong verbal communication skills
  • Must model a desire and willingness to continually learn

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Repetitive bending at the waist as well as kneeling, stooping, crouching to assist students is also required.  Regularly walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Salary : $43,500 - $77,850
