POSITION OVERVIEW

At Hartville Hardware Middlefield, we believe a happy, engaged team delivers exceptional customer service. As a full-time Sales Team Member covering our Hardware, Electrical, Plumbing, and Seasonal departments, you will play a key role in helping customers with their home improvement, repair, and seasonal needs. You will provide expert product recommendations, answer technical questions, and make sure customers leave with the right tools and materials for their projects. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, customer focused, and eager to help customers find solutions while keeping the department well stocked and organized.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

CUSTOMER SERVICE & SALES

• Assist customers in selecting the right hardware, electrical, plumbing, and seasonal products for their projects
• Provide basic to advanced advice on product usage, installation, and maintenance
• Build positive relationships with customers by offering exceptional service
• Resolve customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE & SUPPORT

• Understand and explain the features, benefits, and applications of tools, hardware, electrical, plumbing, and seasonal products
• Guide customers in selecting the correct materials for repairs, renovations, and DIY projects
• Offer troubleshooting assistance for common home improvement issues

MERCHANDISING & INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

• Ensure products are well stocked, correctly labeled, and attractively displayed
• Help set up, maintain, and change over seasonal displays as products rotate throughout the year
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe for customers and team members

TEAM COLLABORATION & STORE OPERATIONS

• Work closely with team members to provide a seamless shopping experience
• Follow store policies and safety guidelines while handling products and assisting customers
• Assist with promotional events, sales initiatives, and product training sessions

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Retail or customer service experience preferred, especially in hardware, electrical, plumbing, or seasonal products
• Basic knowledge of home improvement, repairs, and building materials
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• An adept listener with a teachable attitude
• A friendly, team oriented attitude with a willingness to learn
• A proven and reliable work ethic
• Flexibility to work in a fast paced, often changing environment
• Ability to lift and move products, depending on department needs
• Comfort using point of sale systems and other technology to process orders and payments

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Full-time position, 40 hours per week
• Able to adjust schedule as department needs arise
• Must be willing to work Saturdays and evenings until 7:00 PM
• Store hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
