Job Description:
This position is responsible for a wide array of production operations including planting, stewardship, quality management, and monitoring of the seed corn crop. This position is also responsible for assisting the various seed plants. You must be self-motivated, very detailed oriented, and maintain high quality standards to meet customer needs.
Responsibilities:
o Operate or drive the various types of equipment needed in the company’s farm operations.
o Perform all duties required to successfully produce the crops grown, including tillage, planting, fertilization, chemical application, cultivation, and/or harvesting the crop.
o Assist in performing all maintenance and repairs where needed on all equipment and vehicles used in the farming and seed plant operations.
o Scout crops and update reporting on crop progress including seed quality, growth, and IPM functions.
o Operate a forklift in a fast-paced warehouse and shipping environment.
o Assist with day to day operation of the seed conditioning tower and other areas at the Madison seed plant, as needed.
o Responsible for verification of all packaging formation & materials to be used are correct prior to Bag Line Operator start-up.
o Accurately complete all documentation for packaging and inventory in a timely manner.
o Comply with company and customer regulations, reporting requirements, and policies.
o May be required to work overtime, weekends, second shift, and holidays during busy seasons.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Experience in the operation of farm equipment including tractors, harvesters, cultivators, tillage equipment, etc.
o Ability to learn seed treatment area and obtain a WI State Seed Treatment License.
o Candidate MUST be a self-motivated and detail-oriented person with high drive to be able to focus in a
high tempo environment with ability to adapt to changing situations on a daily basis.
o Knowledge of chemicals and their handling or application requirements.
o Forklift operation experience.
o Ability to perform general math and basic computer operations.
o Good mechanical aptitude to detect and assist in repairing equipment issues.
o Available to travel to various crop and/or seed plant areas.
o Comply with company and customer regulations and policies.
o Training provided to enhance skill levels.
