What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientist position at Hartmann Young?
Manager, Translational Scientist | Cardiology
Dallas, Texas, United States (Remote)
Hartmann Young are partnering with a fast‑growing, privately held biotech advancing a novel therapeutic platform in cardiovascular disease, with a strong focus on cardiomyopathy and heart failure. This is a high‑impact Manager‑level Translational Scientist role within a lean, agile organization, offering meaningful hands‑on ownership across preclinical and early clinical development.
The role is remote across the U.S., with Dallas / Plano–based candidates of particular interest given the company’s growing presence in Texas. This is an urgent hire and an opportunity to join a program at a critical development inflection point.
The Role
You will contribute scientific leadership across translational cardiovascular research, bridging mechanistic biology, cardiovascular animal models, and early clinical development. The role is ideal for a translational biologist with strong in vivo cardiovascular expertise who can partner cross‑functionally to support progression from preclinical studies into Phase 1/2 clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute translational biology activities supporting cardiovascular programs from preclinical through early clinical stages
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert in cardiovascular animal models, including models of cardiomyopathy and heart failure
- Design, oversee, and interpret nonclinical efficacy, PK/PD, and mechanistic studies
- Translate preclinical findings into clinical hypotheses, biomarker strategies, and dose rationale
- Collaborate closely with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, and Biometrics to enable efficient bench‑to‑bedside translation
- Contribute to key program documents including nonclinical study reports, Investigator’s Brochures, translational sections of protocols, and regulatory submissions
- Manage and interact with external CROs, academic collaborators, and vendors supporting in vivo and translational studies
- Support interpretation of emerging early clinical data in the context of preclinical and translational evidence
Expertise We’re Looking For
- PhD (or MD with strong research focus) in cardiovascular biology, physiology, pharmacology, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in a translational biology or preclinical cardiovascular role within biotech, pharma, or an academic–industry environment
- Strong hands‑on familiarity with cardiovascular animal models, particularly:
- Cardiomyopathy (genetic and acquired models)
- Heart failure–relevant models (HFrEF / HFpEF)
- Solid understanding of translational biomarkers, PK/PD relationships, and mechanistic data integration
- Experience supporting programs advancing toward or into early clinical development (Phase 1 / 2)
- Comfort operating in a fast‑paced, resource‑lean biotech environment
- Strong scientific writing, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Why Join?
- Join a mission‑driven biotech focused on high‑unmet‑need cardiovascular diseases
- Hands‑on translational role with real impact on program direction and clinical strategy
- High visibility within a flat organizational structure
- Remote U.S. working model, with added opportunity for local impact if Dallas‑based
- Opportunity to contribute to programs with genuine potential to improve outcomes in heart failure and cardiomyopathy
