What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Community School District?
The Hartley Melvin Sanborn School District is looking to fill an immediate opening for a School Nurse. Qualified candidates will need to have a valid registered nursing license with the State of Iowa.
Job Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for providing optimal health for school-age children. This includes providing prompt care to students experiencing injury or sudden illness and delivering first aid.
- Create health plans and participate in meetings, conferences and staffing regarding student health and health services.
- Develop and oversee individual emergency health care plans for students with special needs.
- Attend IEP meetings when necessary.
- Dispense medication and keep accurate records regarding student medication.
- Notify and keep staff updated regarding students with special health conditions and needs.
- Make sure all cumulative health and immunization records are up to date in accordance with state law.
- Monitor, maintain, and replenish health supplies and equipment.
- Assist with overseeing Medicaid claiming and process and complete claiming on qualified students.
- A successful candidate will build relationships and communicate effectively with students, staff and parents throughout the day, demonstrate organizational skills, and maintain consistent attendance to ensure all duties and responsibilities are carried out effectively.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
