We are seeking Legal Counsel (Hybrid; based in Elgin, Illinois) to take on a full range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, risk management, compliance, and corporate maintenance. Although not required, the ideal candidate will have in-house experience, familiarity with industrial manufacturing, as well as corporate generalist acumen (commercial agreements, corporate law, employment law, insurance claims, litigation management, supply chain, etc.).
This role will have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by partnering closely with the business and be a part of fast-growing solutions-driven company. As we continue to develop as an Americas region, this role will be a critical counterpart to our LATAM colleagues, so experience with LATAM and/or Spanish speaking skills are highly desired. In this team, will be a part of an international legal team and work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Purchasing, Human Resources, Product Development and Sales teams to advance strategic priorities and support growth across the Americas region.
HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives. Reporting directly to the General Counsel - Americas, the Legal Counsel will directly partner with a range of functional departments, including sales, distribution, supply chain, and so on.
To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:
- Review, analyze, negotiate and draft commercial contracts with a primary focus on sales, supply and procurement agreements
- Assist with the development of corporate policies, systems and procedures, in particular, with facilitating the contracting process
- Advise internal clients on legal and contractual rights, obligations, and interpretation of contract terms
- Provide legal counsel to departments as needed, including Marketing, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Information Technology and Logistics
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for commercial contract lifecycle management, ensuring efficient review, negotiation, and approval processes
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, advising leadership on potential impacts
- Other duties as assigned
Must have skills and experience:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school; Member of Bar in Good Standing, preferably Illinois
- 5-10 years of transactional experience in a strong law firm and/or with an in-house legal group, supporting a sales and/or purchasing organization
- Substantial commercial contracting experience (including terms and conditions of sale, master supply agreements, procurement contracts, supply chain agreements, business agreements, employment contracts and non-disclosure agreements)
- Business acumen, with the demonstrated ability to balance business needs and legal risks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to relay complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high activity environment, and able to handle ambiguity, juggle many matters at once, and quickly shift from one situation or task to another
- Exceptional organizational and document management skills, the ability to deploy digital tools to support a legal team as it supports its organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with CLMs a plus, but not required
- Strong preference with Spanish language skills (conversational to proficient level)
- Familiarity with LATAM regulatory landscape a plus

HARTING USA offers an attractive total compensation package and employee benefits, including:
Compensation:
- HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
- Competitive base salary: $135,000 - $160,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location)
- This role is eligible for a 10% discretionary annual bonus.
