Accounts Payable Clerk

Lewis Bakeries is searching for an Accounts Payable Clerk, responsible for receiving, verifying, processing, and tracking all invoices and payments from a variety of suppliers and customers.

Lewis primarily bakes loaf bread, buns and rolls under branded products such as Bunny Bread, Lewis Bake Shop, Healthy Life, as well as other brands. Bakery facilities are located in LaPorte, Ft. Wayne, Vincennes, and Evansville, Indiana, and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Our heritage has been one of quality and reliability since 1925. RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Receive, verify, track, process, and reconcile payments and expenditures, including purchase orders, invoices, statements, checks, refund requisitions, etc. while maintaining compliance with all financial policies and procedures
2. Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation, research and resolve discrepancies with purchasing, receiving, and the vendor, and escalate unresolved items timely
3. Ensure outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed
4. Maintain accurate vendor files, including setup, remittance information changes, and required tax documentation, in accordance with Company control requirements
5. Reconcile vendor statements and assist with month-end close activities including accruals for unvouchered receipts and open payable reporting
6. Generate necessary reports and present accurately
7. Communicate with internal and external clients
8. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma required.
2. 1 year of accounting, banking, or office administration experience preferred.
3. Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
4. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn other accounting software systems.
5. Great communication skills, written and spoken form.
6. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
7. Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethic; self-starter.
8. High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to handle a high volume of invoices and meet weekly payment deadlines.
9. Ability to handle vendor and payment information with confidentiality and sound judgment.
10. Ability to work Monday to Friday 7AM – 4PM.
