Job Summary:
Inspect, maintain and repair District school buses, support vehicles and other equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide diagnostic, service, repair and preventive maintenance as needed on District school buses, support vehicles and other equipment.
Use wiring diagrams, sketches, computer-based diagnostics, and instruction manuals to guide work.
Document and record vehicle repairs and service in written format or via computer.
Dismount, balance and mount tires. Repair bus seats and bus windows. Maintain cameras and recording devices, plus 2-way radios on buses.
Perform annual CDE inspections and vehicle preventive maintenance. Clean garage and tools.
Respond to road calls. Perform minor building, shop and equipment maintenance.
Perform emission testing on diesel buses.
Perform duties of Fleet Manager in their absence.
Substitute as Bus Driver as needed.
Operate snowplow, sander, tractor, forklift, and school buses.
Weld and fabricate repairs to equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized courses in automotive repair, truck repair, and computer diagnostics.
Over three years' experience in diagnostic, services, and repair of light , medium, and heavy-duty trucks or buses.
Skills, Knowledge and Equipment:
Technical knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, diagnostic service equipment, and power tools preferred. Ability to operate an emissions analyzer, forklift, anti-freeze recycler, and diagnostic programs must be acquired within six months of hire. Must own required tools.
Certificate, Licenses, and Equipment:
Commercial Driver’s License and Class “B” license with P2S endorsement required within 90 days of hire.
Brake Inspector’s certification and Emissions Testing license required within six months of hire.
CDE Inspector’s certification required within twelve months of hire. ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification preferred in one of the following series: T (Medium and Heavy Truck), S (School Bus), H (Transit Bus), or L2 (Heavy Vehicle Engine Diagnostics).
First aid, CPR, and nonviolent crisis intervention training within 90 days of hire.
Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
