Fleet Technician (Days)
Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Our Fleet Operations Department maintains and services a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles, and we're looking for a skilled Fleet Technician to join our team.
In this job, you'll perform both onsite and mobile maintenance and repairs on a wide range of vehicles, including light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment. You'll work alongside experienced technicians and gain hands-on experience with top-tier brands like Ford, Chevy, Peterbilt, Caterpillar, and Kenworth. The work that you perform will ensure our fleet is in top condition, allowing you to stay on top of advanced technologies.
A day in the life of a Fleet Technician may include:
- Repairing, cleaning, replacing, installing, and modifying defective, missing, or malfunctioning components of mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, braking, steering, pumping, and other related vehicle systems
- Modifying, repairing, and reassembling major automotive components and assemblies, including gasoline and/or diesel engines, automatic and standard transmissions, differentials, and front-end assemblies
- Repairing and maintaining sanders, plows, and related snow removal equipment and systems
- Performing customer service or garage functions, including topping off fluids, adjusting tire pressures, replacing wiper blades, and other minor services
- Performing automotive inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of vehicles and light/heavy equipment
Who You Are
- Experience in a fleet or automotive mechanic environment
- Knowledge of and experience with preventative maintenance methodologies and tools
- Possession of either a 4 Light or 3 Heavy Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is required; Master ASE certification is valued
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license is required
- Possession of a valid, Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exerts 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
- Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions and intense noises.
