Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced Lead CNC Machinist to take ownership of our machining operation. You'll program, set up, and run Haas CNC lathes and VMCs, taking jobs from print to CAM programming to setup to first piece to production on your own. We program offline so the machines stay cutting, and we want someone who takes pride in getting it right. This is a hands-on role with a real say in programming, tooling, fixtures, and how the shop runs.
Duties
- Program lathe and mill operations offline in BobCAD-CAM, including toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters
- Set up Haas lathes and VMCs: tooling, workholding, fixtures, offsets, and tool changes
- Select the right cutting tools, holders, and inserts for each job
- Prove out programs at the machine and run good first pieces
- Edit and troubleshoot Haas/FANUC-style G-code
- Read prints, tolerances, and GD&T
- Inspect parts with mics, calipers, indicators, and bore gauges
- Watch tool wear and adjust to hold size and finish
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and quality issues
- Improve existing programs and setups to cut cycle time and extend tool life
- Develop programs and processes for new parts
- Keep programs, tooling info, and setup sheets organized
- Handle routine machine care and flag maintenance needs
- Train and support operators and newer machinists
Qualifications
- 5 years of CNC machining experience
- Strong experience setting up and running Haas lathes and/or VMCs
- Offline programming experience with BobCAD-CAM or similar CAM software
- Able to take a job from print to production on your own
- Comfortable editing and troubleshooting G-code at the machine
- Solid understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, speeds, and feeds
- Strong print reading, tolerances, and GD&T
- Good with precision measuring tools
- Experience with both turning and milling is a plus
- Fixture or workholding design experience is a plus
- Experience machining steel for ag or industrial parts is a plus
- Lead or senior machinist experience is a plus
This is a full-time, permanent position on a Monday through Friday day shift, with a benefits package. You'll be working for an established agricultural parts manufacturer where continuous improvement is encouraged. Pay: $31.00 - $35.50 per hour
