Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter

The Role:

As a Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will be responsible for the management, ownership, and growth of an assigned book of business and the acquisition of new business within the middle market space. You will assess individual risks, determine terms and pricing, and work with agents and brokers to build and maintain productive relationships. Additionally, you will provide informal leadership to less experienced underwriters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite new and renewal P&C Middle Market business by evaluating applications and making risk decisions in line with company guidelines.
• Collaborate with agents and brokers, and maintain a productive loss ratio.
• Support product development and pricing, and engage in territory-based customer development and relationship building.
• Participate in continuing education and assist in training.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience or similar (this position does have the potential to come in at the Executive level).
• Knowledge of ISO Based Forms.
• Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to interpret business and regulatory information and maintain professional interactions.
