What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at Harrison Gray Search?
About the Company
Our client is a growing, specialized firm providing expert Water, Fire, Mold, and Reconstruction services across West Michigan. Established by industry veterans with deep roots in insurance and construction, they pride themselves on high-quality workmanship and a reputation for reliable service. They are currently seeking a dedicated Business Development Manager to help expand their market footprint and serve as the primary point of contact for local businesses in need of emergency restoration services.
The Role
As the Business Development Manager, you will serve as the primary "face" of the organization. This is a field-based role centered on building and nurturing a network of referral partners, including insurance agents, plumbing companies, and property managers. Your mission is to open doors, build lasting trust, and ensure that our client is the first choice for emergency response in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Management: Identify, visit, and maintain strong relationships with key referral sources (Insurance Agencies, Plumbing Companies, etc.) through consistent, professional outreach.
- Route Marketing: Execute strategic daily routes throughout the West Michigan area (Grand Rapids, Holland, and surrounding communities) to ensure maximum brand visibility.
- Emergency Ready Plans (ERP): Partner with commercial and corporate clients to develop emergency response protocols, positioning the firm as their primary restoration provider.
- Brand Representation: Participate in community events and execute creative marketing initiatives (themed client "drop-offs," networking events, and holiday outreach).
- CRM & Pipeline Management: Use the company CRM system to track activities, manage leads, and report on progress to ownership.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the production team and ownership to ensure a seamless transition from lead generation to project execution.
What We’re Looking For
- The "Door Opener": You are personable, high-energy, and possess the "grit" required to build a territory from the ground up.
- Experience: Previous experience in restoration, insurance claims, or a related service industry is highly preferred. A pre-existing "book of business" in West Michigan is a major plus.
- Career Mindset: Our client is looking for a long-term partner who wants to grow with the company, not someone looking for a short-term transition.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using tablets, laptops, and CRM software in a mobile environment.
- Requirements: Must have a clean driving record and the ability to manage an independent daily schedule.
Compensation & Perks
Our client believes in rewarding performance. This role offers uncapped earning potential for a motivated professional.
- Base Salary: Competitive base Commission
- Total Comp: Realistic potential to earn $100,000 annually.
- Full Benefits: Health, Dental, and Vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; and Paid Time Off (PTO).
- Field Tools: Newer company vehicle, company tablet, cell phone, and laptop provided.
- Office Space: Dedicated office and warehouse space provided in the Grand Rapids area.
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
