Our client is one of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing companies for four years running. One of West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Employers and a Member of Women in Transportation.

Company Overview:

Our client is a dynamic, fast-growing logistics and supply chain solutions provider headquartered in the Greater Grand Rapids, MI area. With an established, mid-sized corporate team supported by an international operations division, the company has built a reputation for operational excellence and aggressive market growth. Due to the recent expansion of their corporate footprint and the rapid scaling of multiple business lines, they are looking to add an ambitious professional to their corporate finance team.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a driven, self-motivated Senior Financial Operations Specialist to join a fast-paced corporate finance department. Reporting directly to the executive finance leadership team, this high-visibility role manages full-cycle billing, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP) processes across multiple expanding corporate business lines. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who excels in customer-facing financial functions, thrives in a high-volume environment, and can independently navigate complex account escalations. This role requires an individual who can work with high autonomy while seamlessly collaborating with internal teams, offering a strong path toward formal leadership or supervisory responsibilities as the department scales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Operations Execution: Manage and streamline day-to-day corporate financial processes, including high-volume customer billing, invoicing, AR collections, and AP workflows.
  • Client & Vendor Relations: Act as a primary, customer-facing point of contact for corporate client billing discrepancies, vendor inquiries, and account reconciliations, providing top-tier service.
  • Escalation Management: Independently handle, troubleshoot, and resolve complex billing disputes or invoicing hurdles, utilizing critical thinking to find swift resolutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal operations and account management teams to ensure data integrity, timely billing, and accurate reporting across different business units.
  • Process Improvement: Demonstrate a high level of initiative by identifying operational bottlenecks and proactively recommending workflow efficiencies.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as an informal supervisor or team lead, mentoring junior staff and assisting with workload distribution as the organization continues to grow.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience: 3 to 7 years of dedicated experience in a fast-paced, high-volume corporate billing, AR, or AP role.
  • Industry Focus: Prior experience within transportation, logistics, distribution, or supply chain is ideal, but candidates from other high-volume, fast-paced service sectors (such as corporate manufacturing or tech) are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Communication & Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record in a client-facing accounting/finance capacity. Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills are required.
  • Leadership Background: Prior experience as a Team Lead, Supervisor, or a demonstrated readiness to step into a leadership capacity is highly preferred.
  • Core Attributes: Highly driven, self-motivated, and comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment. Must be able to pivot quickly, work independently without micromanagement, and contribute effectively to a cohesive team environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Position Type: Full-Time
  • Location: Grand Rapids, MI area
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k) matching, and Paid Time Off (PTO).
