Harrison & Fortier is seeking a Georgia-licensed attorney with a minimum of three years of experience to join our growing practice. While prior family law experience is preferred, it is not required for candidates who possess exceptional communication skills, substantial courtroom experience, and a genuine interest in practicing family law.


In this role, you will represent clients in a wide range of family law matters, including divorces, child custody disputes, child support, alimony, parenting plans, allocation of parental responsibilities, domestic violence proceedings, adoptions, enforcement actions, and other related matters.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in Georgia family law matters, including adoption, divorce, legitimation/paternity, child custody, visitation, child support, alimony, equitable division of assets, modifications, enforcement actions, and contempt proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and argue motions, pleadings, petitions, responses, proposed orders, settlement agreements, parenting plans, financial affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Manage discovery, including mandatory disclosures, requests for production, interrogatories, requests for admission, subpoenas, and document review.
  • Analyze financial records and other evidence relating to income, assets, liabilities, child support calculations, alimony, and equitable division issues.
  • Prepare clients for mediation, depositions, hearings, settlement conferences, and trial.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and professionals, including forensic accountants, business valuation experts, real estate appraisers, vocational experts, guardians ad litem, parenting coordinators, and mental health professionals.
  • Advocate for clients during mediations, temporary hearings, motion hearings, evidentiary hearings, and bench trials.
  • Participate in mediation and settlement conferences to pursue favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel to ensure cases progress efficiently.
  • Collaborate with partners, paralegals, and support staff to develop and execute case strategy.
  • Maintain accurate case files, monitor deadlines, prepare billing entries, and document client communications.


Qualifications

  • Active member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
  • Minimum of three years of litigation experience preferred.
  • Prior family law experience is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated courtroom experience, including hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client counseling abilities.
  • Ability to manage emotionally sensitive matters with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple active cases.
  • Commitment to working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced litigation practice.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally throughout Georgia, with most travel occurring within the Brunswick Judicial Circuit.


Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $80,000 – $115,000, commensurate with experience (DOE)
