Full-Time | Flexible Contract Days | $75,000–$95,000

JOB SUMMARY:

Harrisburg School District seeks a forward-thinking Director of Technology to lead and shape technology across our schools. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit, student-centered district with a flexible work calendar. The Director oversees the development, implementation, and support of all district technology systems—including infrastructure, devices, instructional tools, and long-range planning—serving as both a strategic leader and hands-on problem solver to ensure systems are secure, efficient, and future-ready.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

1. Network architecture and management
2. Microsoft Server, VMware environments
3. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
4. MDM tools (JAMF or similar)
5. Meraki or similar networking systems
6. Windows, ChromeOS, and iOS environments
7. LMS platforms and instructional technology
8. Cybersecurity, backups, and system redundancy
9. VOIP systems, cameras, and access control

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Lead district technology planning, purchasing, and implementation
2. Maintain and support networks, servers, devices, and software systems
3. Oversee cybersecurity, user access, and data systems
4. Provide training and support for staff across all programs
5. Manage infrastructure, including VOIP, security cameras, and access systems
6. Coordinate with ESD and external vendors
7. Maintain inventory, licensing, and system documentation
8. Support instructional technology and classroom systems
9. Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices
10. Attends work regularly and is punctual.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
2. Experience in network administration or a similar role
3. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
4. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
5. Self-direction, organization, and adaptability
6. A collaborative mindset and commitment to supporting schools
