What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Room Worker position at Harris Pizza?
As a Prep Room Worker, you will focus entirely on the core ingredients that make our pizzas great: dough, meats, and cheese. You’ll be responsible for producing our signature dough from scratch, prepping and portioning high-quality meats, and processing our cheese blends to keep the make-line fully stocked and ready for the dinner rush.
What You’ll Do:
- Follow precise recipes to mix, weigh, and portion out fresh pizza dough.
- Operate commercial equipment to safely and accurately prepare vegetables, sausage, and other toppings.
- Grind, blend, and properly portion bulk cheeses according to our exact weight specifications.
- Receive inventory deliveries, safely storing ingredients and rotating stock using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety in the prep area, walk-in cooler, and on all heavy machinery.
What We’re Looking For:
- Morning availability (this role typically starts early to prep for the day!).
- Ability to repeatedly lift heavy items up to 50 lbs (flour bags, large cheese blocks, and bulk meat boxes).
- Comfortable and safety-conscious when operating heavy kitchen equipment, including commercial dough mixers, cheese shredders, and meat slicers.
- Highly organized, precise with measurements, and capable of working independently.
- Reliability—the rest of the restaurant depends on your prep work being finished before the doors open.
