Harris Pizza is seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Pizza Cook to join our team. The Pizza Cook is responsible for preparing orders to precise company standards, ensuring high-quality food, accurate portioning, and timely execution. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintain strict health and sanitation standards, and work collaboratively with the Shift Manager and restaurant staff to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
Essential Functions
- Food Preparation: Prep dough, portion toppings, and stretch pizza base according to Harris Pizzas quality standards.
- Order Entry:Accurately input customer orders into the Toast POS system and answer any menu related questions from customers over the phones or instore.
- Order Execution: Read tickets from the Toast POS kitchen display accurately, assembling pizzas and other menu items efficiently during high-volume periods.
- Oven Management: Monitor pizzas during the baking process to ensure perfect consistency, temperature, and visual appeal; safely operate commercial pizza ovens.
- Sanitation & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation at all times; strictly adhere to all state and local food safety regulations, including proper cross-contamination prevention and temperature logging.
- Inventory & Prep: Assist with daily ingredient prep (chopping vegetables, slicing meats, preparing sauces) and rotate stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to minimize waste.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safe food handling, cooking temperatures, and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification is a plus).
- Pacing & Time Management: Ability to prioritize multiple tickets and synchronize cooking times so complete orders are ready simultaneously.
- Attention to Detail: Skill in memorizing specific ingredient combinations, portion weights, and visual quality standards.
- Teamwork: Ability to communicate effectively with the Shift Manager and other kitchen staff in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Stationary Position: Must be able to stand and work on your feet for the duration of a shift (up to 8 hours).
- Movement: Frequently bend, twist, reach, and move around a crowded kitchen environment.
- Lifting: Routinely lift and carry bulk ingredients (such as flour bags, cheese blocks, or sauce buckets) weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Constantly work in an indoor commercial kitchen environment with elevated temperatures near industrial ovens, handling hot pans and sharp kitchen utensils.
- Schedule Availability: Must be available to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs dictate. May be asked to work at multiple locations as business needs dictate.
Minimum Qualifications & WorkKeys Recommendation
- Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume pizzeria is preferred. Driver's License is required.
Pay: $13.50 - $17.50 per hour
