What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional -Community Habilitation/In Home Respite-Hourly position at Harris Hands Community Services, Inc.?
Harris Hands Community Service, Inc. is looking for Direct Support Professionals for our Community Habilitation and In Home Respite Service programs. We have no overnight shifts available. This position will require the candidate hired to work in the participant's home. If you are passionate about working with people this is a great opportunity. This is an hourly position.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing direct support and assistance to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Assisting individuals with learning and advancing in their independent living skills and activities of daily living skills including personal care, money management, homework assistance, travel training, picking children up from school or from school bus, providing parents with relief from caretaking for personal needs, or any other goals the person and their team may want to accomplish, etc.
- Supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals and promoting independence
- Engaging individuals in recreational and social activities
- Documenting and maintaining accurate records of services provided daily and reflect on monthly summaries
- Additional/other related duties as described by your supervisor/employer.
Experience
- Experience working with people diagnosed with intellectual, physical and/or developmental disabilities ( adults and children)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience with data entry via cellphone and computer
- Ability to analyze situations and problem-solve effectively
Please note: Some individuals may require post toileting assistance or hands-on physical assistance when needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and/or weekends and work with multiple cases if/when necessary or available.
- Ability to record data on computer and cellphone (Computer literacy is mandatory).
