What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Assistant position at Harris County District Attorney's Office?
General Summary:
The Administrative Assistant supports the presentation of all criminal charges that are filed in Harris County. This position assists officers as they enter both in-custody and no arrest charges into the system. After the Assistant District Attorney reviews the charges, they are returned to the Administrative Assistant for review to identify any clerical or other errors. Once the review is completed, the Administrative Assistant signs off on the charges and returns them to the Assistant District Attorney for final signature and filing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- The Administrative Assistant will answer telephone calls, assist officers with charges as needed, and direct callers to the appropriate personnel.
- Once the Administrative Assistant becomes proficient in the assigned duties, they will be cross-trained in additional Intake Administrative Assistant responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- The successful candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to operate basic office equipment, and demonstrate strong organizational skills in maintaining records and files.
- Must show strong attention to detail, work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, and maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Required Education/Experience:
- Must have High School Diploma.
- Three years office or criminal justice experience.
Hours:
- Part-time position; limited to no more than 60 hours per pay period
Salary (Starting):
- Hourly Rate: $26.25
