This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators across offices and practice areas, engage in sophisticated commercial disputes, and take on meaningful responsibility representing clients in state and federal courts, as well as in mediation and arbitration proceedings. The work is fast-paced, team-oriented, and provides hands-on experience managing complex business litigation matters from inception through resolution.

The Business Litigation Associate Will Have The Opportunity To
- Represent clients in courtroom proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations
- Take and defend depositions of parties and fact witnesses
- Research factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategy
- Draft pleadings, memoranda, discovery demands and responses, motions, and briefs
- Examine records and transactions underlying business disputes and potential client claims
- Work across a variety of commercial litigation practice areas, including product liability defense, and collaborate with colleagues firmwide to deliver comprehensive client service
- A hybrid work opportunity in one of Harris Beach Murtha’s Connecticut offices
- Engagement in sophisticated commercial and business litigation on behalf of a diverse client base
- Minimum annual billable requirement of 1800 hours
- Admission to the Connecticut bar (required)
- Admission to the New York and/or Massachusetts bar (preferred)
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Experience with Connecticut State Court and Federal Court practice
- Federal or state judicial clerkship experience (preferred)
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- The ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information
- A high level of professionalism, conscientiousness, and responsibility
- A positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude
