Position Summary
The Patient Care Aide will support patients with activities of daily living, mobility, and basic health maintenance needs under the direction of supervisory staff. This role is vital in ensuring each client receives attentive care that promotes independence and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with taking prescribed medications as directed
- Support ambulation and mobility inside the home and during community outings (doctor visits, errands, walks, etc.)
- Provide personal care assistance such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene
- Help clients with prescribed physical therapy or range-of-motion exercises
- Plan and prepare meals according to dietary needs and preferences
- Perform light housekeeping, including laundry and tidying living spaces
- Shop for groceries or accompany clients on errands as needed
- Observe and report any changes in client condition or behavior to management promptly
- Respond calmly and effectively in case of emergency situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Previous experience as a caregiver, personal care aide, or home health aide
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR (certification preferred)
- Familiarity with household management and meal preparation
- Commitment to safety, infection control, and confidentiality protocols
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable demeanor
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and assist clients with mobility as required
