Duties
- Collect blood samples via venipuncture and capillary puncture, ensuring patient comfort and safety using aseptic techniques.
- Process, label, and document specimens accurately according to established laboratory procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, prepare samples for analysis, and maintain proper sample storage conditions.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient physiology when necessary to support clinical assessments.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace adhering to infection control standards and laboratory safety protocols.
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and demonstrating compassion throughout specimen collection.
- Assist with laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and quality control checks to ensure optimal performance.
Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting or hospital environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen processing.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and blood sampling techniques such as venipuncture.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
- Familiarity with hospital protocols related to patient care, specimen handling, and aseptic technique is advantageous.
- Proven ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while multitasking in fast-paced settings.
- Certification in phlebotomy or relevant laboratory training is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level candidates willing to learn.
