Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in operating internal and external software systems, including advanced tasks such as creating spreadsheets, graphs, charts, and presentations.
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP).
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- At least 3 years of experience with cross-functional coordination that includes Demand Planning and Inventory Control.
Percent of Travel: Approximately 10% of the time.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is REQUIRED.
- 8-10 years of experience in transportation.
- Previous management experience that includes successful experience managing a diverse group of carriers.
- Preferred: Experience in perishable or food industry transportation and manufacturing transportation experience.
Also requires flexibility to work on a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Transportation Manager is responsible for supervising two Transportation Supervisors and one Logistics Analyst. These team members handle day-to-day operations related to transportation for three manufacturing plants and customer deliveries to 48 states.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to support the overall supply chain strategy.
- Manage day-to-day operations for transportation from three facilities and across the entire supply chain.
- Collaborate with manufacturing facilities to ensure efficient operations and success for both the plants and dedicated carrier(s).
- Regularly assess transportation team performance with team members and key stakeholders to ensure excellent service and operations.
- Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, safety regulations, and applicable laws.
- Monitor departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including budget attainment, costing, and metrics related to carrier performance.
- Develop, negotiate, and execute carrier Request for Proposal (RFP) bids.
- Oversee carrier selection and measure performance.
- Establish blended and national freight rates for specific customers and company-wide.
- Monitor monthly spend and make necessary adjustments to achieve target freight rates.
- Provide guidance and oversight for all transportation activities to meet cost and service expectations.
- Support and direct transportation team members in project completion and achievement of departmental goals.
- Manage Transportation Management System (TMS) software, focusing on optimization and efficiency.
