Compensation: $90,000 annually

Position Summary

Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy is seeking a dynamic Middle School Math & Science Teacher to teach students in grades 6–8. The ideal candidate brings strong content knowledge, enthusiasm for hands-on learning, and the ability to make mathematical and scientific concepts meaningful through practical, real-world application.

The successful candidate will inspire students to think critically, solve complex problems, and develop confidence in both mathematics and science.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach middle school mathematics and science courses aligned with state and school standards.
• Develop engaging lessons that promote analytical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.
• Integrate laboratory activities, projects, and experiential learning opportunities.
• Utilize student data and assessments to drive instructional decisions.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Maintain a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community activities.
• Contribute to a positive and student-centered school culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or related field required.
• Teaching credential/license preferred.
• Endorsement or demonstrated experience in either Math or Science required.
• 1–2 years of classroom teaching experience preferred (strong new graduates encouraged to apply).
• Strong background in middle school mathematics and/or science instruction.
• Experience using assessments and student performance data to guide instruction.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to create engaging, hands-on lessons that connect concepts to real-world applications.
• Independent school or faith-based school experience is a plus.

Additional Position Highlights

• Typical school day: approximately 7:30 AM – 3:45 PM.
• Early dismissal Fridays (approximately 2:00 PM).
• Average class sizes of 18–20 students.
• Dedicated student support resources available for learners requiring additional academic assistance.
• Highly collaborative and joyful faculty environment with strong leadership support.
• Teaching Support & resources are provided by school staff to assist educators with classroom time.
