Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site

Compensation: $70,000–$90,000 annually

Position Summary

Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy is seeking an engaging and enthusiastic Elementary Science Teacher to inspire students in grades 1–5 through hands-on, inquiry-based science instruction. The ideal candidate is passionate about making science accessible, exciting, and relevant through real-world applications, experiments, and interactive learning experiences.

This role partners closely with elementary classroom teachers to deliver science instruction that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific exploration.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned science lessons for students in grades 1–5.
• Create hands-on learning experiences that encourage exploration, problem-solving, and scientific inquiry.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and academic needs.
• Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and families.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate science into broader curriculum initiatives.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and progress.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
• Support the mission and values of the school while contributing to a collaborative faculty culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or equivalent experience in education
• Teaching credential/license preferred; equivalent independent school experience will be considered.
• 1–2 years of experience teaching elementary students minimum, preferably science-focused instruction.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Passion for hands-on, experiential learning and student engagement.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience differentiating instruction for a variety of learning needs.
• Interest in working within a Jewish day school environment is a plus.
