Position Title: Maintenance Associate
Reports to: Director of Facilities, Hargrave Military Academy
RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS:
- Must comply with established regulatory, safety guidelines and policies both by state, local and HMA.
- Must always maintain a professional appearance and a high level of professionalism supporting the school and communicating with coworkers, leadership, facility and cadets.
- Maintain working relationships with all site personnel, vendors, and contractors.
- Be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from various levels of management
- Multitasking and making sound decisions with the ability to problem solve.
- Being on time and good attendance record is a must.
- No smoking, drugs or alcohol on premises
- Must have clean driving record
- Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug test
Job Duties:
- Perform / assist in routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation on
- Basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, carpentry,
- Ability to operate lawnmowers and other outdoor equipment, and any other tasks that may arise
- Frequent use of hand tools, weed eaters, trimmers, lawnmowers, tractor, snowblower, and any other tools and equipment needed to perform the job task
- Hands on and manual labor with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Inventory of parts and equipment
- A lot of walking routinely moves throughout buildings and grounds on campus
- Ability to climb ladders at various heights to perform light installations, cleaning gutters, windows, and other tasks as required
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and reaching objects
- Work in various environmental and weather conditions
Physical Requirements:
- Physical activity breakdown: approximately 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and crouching
- Physical coordination and stamina are a must to operate handheld and motorized tools and equipment
- Willing to cover other areas in the event of a coworker’s absence and/or work
- Overtime during the week and on weekends as required to meet the needs of the school
- Perform other duties as required by the President
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of maintenance experience in:
- Plumbing - sinks, toilets, water pipes
- Carpentry - repair and replace doors, walls, floors.
- Experience in HVAC, especially boilers and masonry, is a bonus
