Elite Head Swimming Coach & Program Director

Hargrave Military Academy is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Elite Head Swimming Coach & Program Director to build one of the premier boarding school swimming programs in the country.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a coach who is passionate about recruiting, developing student-athletes, and building a nationally respected program. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of the Hargrave swimming program while mentoring young men in a college preparatory military environment centered on academics, leadership, character, and athletic excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and lead a highly competitive swimming program.
- Develop and implement a year-round recruiting plan to attract talented student-athletes from across the country and internationally.
- Coach and develop swimmers to reach their highest athletic and academic potential.
- Plan and conduct daily practices that challenge athletes of varying ability levels.
- Prepare athletes for success at the collegiate level.
- Develop a positive, disciplined, and competitive team culture.
- Schedule competitions and coordinate team travel.
- Work collaboratively with Admissions to recruit and enroll prospective cadet-athletes.
- Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, athletic trainers, and school leadership.
- Supervise and mentor assistant and developmental coaches.
- Manage the program budget, equipment, and uniforms.
- Represent Hargrave Military Academy with professionalism and integrity on and off campus.
- Support the Academy's mission of developing leaders of character.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Proven success as a head or assistant swimming coach.
- Demonstrated success recruiting student-athletes.
- Experience developing athletes for collegiate swimming.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A passion for mentoring young men both in and out of the pool.
- Knowledge of USA Swimming and high school swimming competition.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- USA Swimming coaching certification.
- ASCA certification.
- Experience coaching multiple age groups or high-performance athletes.
- Experience working in a boarding school, college, academy, or similar educational environment.
