Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and patient-centered Pediatric Dentist to join our team on a part-time basis (1–2 days per week). The ideal candidate is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based oral healthcare for children while creating positive dental experiences for patients and their families. This position offers the opportunity to serve the community in a collaborative public health setting dedicated to improving children's oral health. This is a consultant/contractual position with no benefits.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive oral examinations, diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care, including stainless steel crowns, pulp therapy, extractions, and placement of space maintainers.
- Administer local anesthesia, nitrous oxide sedation, and age-appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Diagnose and manage oral health conditions, dental trauma, and developmental abnormalities.
- Educate patients and caregivers on oral hygiene, nutrition, preventive care, and available treatment options.
- Develop treatment plans that promote long-term oral health and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with dental hygienists, dental assistants, specialists, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control protocols, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Foster trusting relationships with patients and families through compassionate communication and exceptional clinical care.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency program.
- Current Maryland dental license in good standing
- Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
