Now Hiring: Assistant Professor of Chemistry (One-Year Emergency Hire)
Are you passionate about teaching chemistry and helping students succeed? Harford Community College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Chemistry for a 10-month, one-year emergency appointment beginning August 2026.
In this role, you will:
- Teach General Chemistry I & II (day and afternoon courses)
- Deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction
- Support curriculum development, student advising, and assessment
- Contribute to college service through committees and campus initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
- One year of full-time college-level teaching experience (or equivalent adjunct experience)
- Experience with or ability to use evidence-based teaching practices
- Experience assessing student learning outcomes
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Preferred
- Doctorate in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
Additional Information
- 10-month, full-time faculty appointment
- Classes begin August 24, 2026
- Full-time faculty teach 15 contact hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters
- A teaching demonstration will be required during the interview process
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. Harford Community College does not sponsor employment visas.
- Employees must reside in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia, or relocate to meet this requirement.
