Job Summary

This hands-on role is essential for our production team, specializing in the fabrication and precise assembly of high-quality Trimless Dimensional Plastic Letters. You will be directly responsible for the construction, seamless joining, and finishing of sign components, ensuring every letter meets engineering specifications and quality standards, and is structurally prepared for the subsequent installation of LED lighting systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Trimless Assembly & Bonding: Execute high-precision fabrication of trimless letter forms, ensuring a flawless, bubble-free, and permanent bond between the plastic face and the plastic returns without the use of a trim cap.

• Dimensional Letter Construction: Precisely assemble plastic returns (sides) to plastic faces and backs, ensuring tight seams and structural rigidity for all letter types.

• Adhesive Expertise: Perform highly detailed work involving the expert application of industrial adhesives and cements (like Weld-On or specialized cyanoacrylates) to join acrylic, polycarbonate, and other plastic components to create a clean, seamless, and structurally sound joint.

• LED Preparation Focus: Ensure the internal cavity of the assembled letter is perfectly clean, dry, and free of excess adhesive or debris, making it ready for the electrical team to install LED modules and wiring.

• Assembly and Finishing: Securely fasten internal components and clean, sand, deburr, and finish assembled letters to ensure a professional, high-end appearance.

• Blueprint Reading: Accurately read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and work orders to fabricate letters according to exact dimensions, depths, and material call-outs.

• Tool Operation: Safely and proficiently operate standard sign fabrication equipment, including routers, sheer/break machines, jigs, plastic bending equipment, and various power and hand tools.

• Quality Control: Inspect all materials and components before and after assembly for defects, maintaining high quality standards and adhering to UL specifications where applicable.

Education and Experience

Required:

• High school diploma/GED equivalent from an accredited institution.

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a sign manufacturing or custom fabrication environment, specifically focused on dimensional letter assembly and high-precision plastic bonding.

Preferred:

• Documented experience fabricating Trimless Channel Letters or similar seam-free plastic display items.

• Demonstrated expertise in the use of specialized solvent cements and plastic bonding techniques.

• Familiarity with the SDS Trimless LetterForm process or similar materials.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

• Expert knowledge of plastic sign materials, particularly the properties and specialized bonding requirements for seamless/trimless acrylic and polycarbonate fabrication.

• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to execute precision work, especially concerning fit, finish, and the internal quality required for LED components.

• Strong ability to visualize 3D forms from 2D drawings.

• Capacity to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain a high standard of quality in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

• Proficiency in safely using various fabrication tools and equipment.

• Collaborative, professional, and adaptable mindset with a team-first attitude.
