General Description:

Reporting to the Training Success Delivery Manager, the Instructional Designer will have primary oversight in evaluating, creating, and sourcing high-quality training materials for the benefit of HARDI members. The Instructional Designer will be expected to work with HARDI staff and members to complete front-end analyses and align designed learning experiences to established best practices. The candidate will work closely with HARDI’s Training Success Manager, who will be responsible for administering training via HEAT.U, HARDI’s learning management system (LMS), interfacing with certification program learners and sponsors, and helping execute the Talent training plan.

HARDI is predominantly a North American trade association with international members representing wholesale distributors of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and supplies. With a membership of nearly 1,000 distributors, manufacturers, marketing groups, and service vendors, HARDI is a diverse organization that exists to promote and strengthen the HVACR wholesale distribution channel.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Content & Vendor Management

o Perform needs analysis to understand the needs of HARDI member companies; Consult with staff, committees, and members as necessary to determine a vision and objectives for HARDI Talent services, including end user products

o Oversee product lifecycle for HARDI Talent products – product conception, design, testing, rollout, engagement, support, and retirement.

o Evaluate, secure and liaison with vendors on all Talent related matters including but not limited to HARDI’s LMS Maple, Biz Library, certification program instructors, and others.

o Manage Talent Inbox

o Main LMS Administrator for enrollments, custom portals, etc.

o Responsible for the members' LMS Administrator User Groups

  • Course Authoring:
  • Adapt existing SCORM coursework, as needed, to ensure products are engaging and following current e-learning trends
  • Develop new coursework, as identified by needs analyses
  • Oversight of SCORM deployments to member learning management systems via SCORM Cloud
  • Articulate/Storyline
  • Video creation and editing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Minimum of 3- 5 years experience in a training and development role
  • Understanding of adult learning principles, with advanced presentation skills
  • Proven track record in the development and execution of training programs
  • Proficient in learning management system administration, Microsoft Office, and web conference platforms

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, Instructional Design, Learning & Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of course authoring software (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate)
  • Advanced knowledge of InDesign

Some travel (less than 10%) required.
