Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Manager with at least 10 years of public accounting experience to lead client engagements, prepare complex tax returns, and provide leadership to our tax team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns, payroll and sales tax compliance, and specialized experience with 1031 exchanges, pass-through entity taxes (PTET), multi-state returns, and tax planning. This role requires someone who is proactive, accountable, detail-orientated and comfortable mentoring and training staff while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Take full ownership of partner accounts, managing them end-to-end from preparation to filing and client communication
• Lead and manage multiple client engagements, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of tax services
• Prepare and review a variety of tax returns, including:
• Form 1040 – Individual
• Form 1065 – Partnership
• Form 1120 – Corporation
• Form 1120-S – S Corporation
• Form 1041 – Fiduciary/Estate/Trust
• State and local returns, including payroll and sales tax filings
• Provide guidance on 1031 exchanges, pass-through entity tax (PTET) matters, and tax planning strategies
• Manage filing extensions and ensure compliance with all deadlines
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing guidance and addressing inquiries
• Mentor and train junior staff, fostering professional growth and development
• Oversee bookkeeping and make necessary adjustments to client accounts
• Ensure accountability and ownership across engagements
Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of public accounting experience, with a strong focus on tax
• Proven experience preparing 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, and other federal and state tax returns
• Experience with 1031 exchanges, pass-through entity tax (PTET), filing extensions, and tax planning
• Experience taking full ownership of partner accounts and managing them end-to-end
• Knowledge of payroll and sales tax processes
• Strong client communication skills and experience maintaining client relationships
• Experience managing, mentoring, and training staff
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• CPA designation required
• Must have experience with Quickbooks desktop and Quickbooks online
• Must have experience with CCH Prosystems, Lacerte or Ultra Tax
• Experience with Autoflow and Sureprep is a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary range: $150,000 – $165,000, commensurate with experience
