Material Handler and Forklift Operator

General Function: It is the responsibility of each employee of the Company to understand and promote the Company Mission Statement and Statement of Values while adhering to the Company Code of Conduct.  The primary responsibility of this position is the loading and unloading of trucks, pulling orders, cleaning the yard and warehouse areas, and assisting customers.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
 

1. Unloading vendor trucks
   1. Receiving and unloading trucks.
   2. Storing all incoming materials in proper location promptly.
2. Inventory.
   1. Assisting with inventory cycle counts.
   2. Maintaining inventory in a neat and logical manner.
   3. Ensuring no materials leave the yard or warehouse without a ticket.
   4. Pulling orders for shipment.
3. Safety.
   1. Complying with Company safety policy.
   2. Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
   3. Operating all material handling equipment in a safe manner.
   4. Reporting all safety concerns immediately to the Warehouse and/or Yard Manager.
4. Shipping.
   1. Ensuring all shipments and customer pickups are done completely and accurately.
   2. Loading all materials properly to allow a safe delivery.
   3. Pulling orders for shipment as directed. 
5. General – As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Warehouse or Yard Assistant must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all location personnel, Outside Sales Representatives, and other Company employees.

Physical Requirements:   Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds will be required on an occasional basis.

Working Conditions:   The work is primarily outside work in all types of weather.  On occasion, this Assistant may be required to travel with a driver to assist delivery at the job site.

Experience:  None required.          

Education:   High school diploma or GED preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:   The skill to operate a forklift and to pass the Forklift Operator Written Licensing Exam; good math and reading skills.
