What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced EWP Designer position at HARBIN LUMBER COMPANY INC?
General Function: It is the responsibility of each employee of the Company to understand and promote the Company Mission Statement and Statement of Values while adhering to the Company Code of Conduct. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage all duties required in the design of truss and I-joist products.
Experience: Three years of experience as a designer in the industry is required.
Education: A four year degree in management, business, or engineering is preferred.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: A structural engineering background and knowledge of building codes and construction is required along with knowledge of trusses, wall systems, beams, and all other products involved with construction.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design Department.
- Performing design requirements on EWP.
- Running the computer to get designs and cost.
- Assisting Design Department Manager on projects when possible.
- Working with Design Department Manager on layouts and shop drawings as time permits.
- Sales & Marketing.
- Assisting Outside Sales Representatives in developing new accounts.
- Providing customer service assistance as requested.
- Visiting job sites as requested.
- Safety.
- Complying with Company safety policy.
- Maintaining a clean, orderly and safe work area.
- Reporting all potential safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
- General – As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Truss Designer must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all Company employees.
Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting, up to 50 pounds, will be required on an occasional basis.
Working Conditions: Office assigned is in a good environment. Periodic site visits may be in hot, cold, and wet conditions.
