Overview
We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to support large-scale pharmaceutical and life sciences manufacturing projects. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with project teams from early design through commissioning and qualification, delivering automation solutions within GMP-regulated environments. Engineers in this position will play a key role in capital projects, collaborating with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and support advanced process control and logistics automation systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and implement PLC and HMI software for process control and automated material handling systems.
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and engineering shakedown activities.
- Create and maintain automation documentation, including functional specifications, design specifications, system overviews, and configuration documents.
- Coordinate technical action items across multiple vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Support integration of third-party equipment, warehouse control systems, and historian platforms into existing automation architecture.
- Maintain source code version control and deployment records throughout project execution.
- Travel to manufacturing sites and equipment vendors as required to support project activities.
Job Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related disciplines strongly preferred)
- 5 years of experience in industrial automation or process control engineering.
- Strong proficiency with Rockwell ControlLogix PLC programming and FactoryTalk View HMI development.
- Demonstrated experience leading automation projects from design through commissioning.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, network architecture diagrams, and control system documentation.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel as required for project and vendor support.
Salary : $120,000 - $130,000
