What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Haralson County Schools?
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Provides health services to facilitate the student's optimal physical growth and development
- Identifies problems and disabilities and reports to necessary parties
- Helps to prevent serious health problems within the school environment
- Supports the education process by working with school personnel to support the health of the students
- Obtains a health history on each student
- Interprets the health status of students to parents and school personnel
- Initiates referral to parents, school personnel, or community health resources for intervention, remediation and follow through
- Utilizes existing health resources to provide appropriate care for students
- Serves as health liaison between the school and community health agencies
- Counsels with students concerning problems such as pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and substance abuse in order to facilitate responsible decision-making practices (where applicable)
- Keeps up-to-date and accurate records of student visits and parental follow up
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Required Skills:
- Qualifications to practice as a RN in the state of Georgia
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Certified in CPR
- Use of computer for record keeping purposes
- Ability to work as part of the administrative team
