Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Master Cosmetologist License from an accredited post-secondary institution
- At least three years experience in industry (must have been employed in-field for three of last seven years)
- Passing score on Ethics for Teachers Assessment (Test Code 351)
- Appropriate certifications and training as outlined by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission; Effective written and oral communication skills; Ability to work in and foster a positive work environment; Ability to work as an effective member of the CCA team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cosmetology teaching experience and/or Instructor’s License
- Associate degree in Cosmetology or related

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the system philosophy, goals, and objectives of the district and program;
- Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task;
- Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory and possesses knowledge about the program
- Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet the needs of all students;
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies;
- Continually demonstrates strategies for remediation, acceleration, and scaffolding
- Consistently utilizes high-yield instructional strategies that encourage active engagement
- Collaborates with teacher preparation programs in the region and communicates regularly with Workforce Development partners
- Works collaboratively with co-teacher and other host teachers to ensure that observation and practicum experiences are productive and beneficial for all students
- Maintains collaborative relationships with West Georgia Technical College to support and sustain the dual enrollment program, including coordinating student recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, curriculum alignment, communication, documentation, and compliance with district, college, and state requirements;
- Assists with program recruitment, marketing, student organization activities, special events, and community outreach initiatives to promote CTAE programs;
- Provides progress and interim reports as required;
- Prepares substitute folder containing appropriate information as required by the principal;
- Facilitates, advises, and actively promotes student participation in SkillsUSA as the program's Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), including supervising chapter activities, preparing students for leadership development events and competitive events, attending required conferences and competitions, and maintaining compliance with CTSO expectations
- Maintains an extended-day contract by participating in activities outside the regular school day, including CTSO events, competitions, student recruitment, advisory committee meetings, open houses, parent events, professional learning, industry engagement, and other assigned program responsibilities;
- Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities;
- Develops, in accordance with system school guidelines, reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied;
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
- Responsibly supervises students during the school day and during work-based learning, dual enrollment, field trips, clinical, laboratory, and practicum activities, as applicable;
- Upholds and enforces Board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules and regulations;
- Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time;
- Cooperates with the administration in planning appropriate professional development at a school or at the system level;
- Attends staff, department, and committee meetings as required;
- Evaluates accomplishments of students on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods;
- Makes appropriate adjustments in the instructional program as required by the principal;
- Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teacher in accordance with accepted professional ethics, state, and federal laws;
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
