What are the responsibilities and job description for the CTI Paraprofessional position at Haralson County Schools?
The CTI Paraprofessional supports the Career & Technical Instruction (CTI) program by assisting students with disabilities in developing academic, employability, career, and independent living skills. This position works closely with the CTI Coordinator to support students receiving special education services as they prepare for successful transitions to postsecondary education, training, and employment.
The CTI Paraprofessional assists with classroom instruction, work-based learning experiences, job coaching, leadership development, and student support to help students meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) transition goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Instruction & Support
- Assist students with disabilities in developing employability and career readiness skills
- Provide one-on-one and small group instructional support
- Reinforce instruction provided by the CTI Coordinator and CCA instructors
- Support students in meeting IEP transition goals
- Assist students with organization, time management, and task completion
- Help students develop self-advocacy and independent living skills
- Move in and out of CTAE classrooms to support students across multiple programs
- Monitor and document student progress
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding student information
Classroom & Program Support
- Assist with preparation of instructional materials and activities
- Support career exploration and transition activities
- Assist with field trips, job shadowing, and career events
- Assist with preparation for region and state leadership conferences
- Support classroom management and positive behavior strategies
- Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Demonstrate flexibility and respond to changing student and program needs
Safety & Lab Support
- Assist students in CTAE labs and hands-on learning environments
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required in labs, including closed-toe shoes, welding helmets, gloves, eye protection, and other safety equipment as needed
- Support adherence to safety procedures and expectations
Administrative & Documentation Support
- Assist with maintaining student documentation and records
- Support data collection for program reporting and compliance
- Maintain confidentiality of student information
