CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Experienced Custodian to uphold the cleanliness, health, and safety standards in our facilities. The Custodian will play a crucial role in maintaining a sanitary environment and providing general janitorial daily services.
Qualifications:
1. 18 years or older
2. Valid ID/License
3. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience as a Custodian or in a related position.
3. Familiarity with DBHDD/DCH policies and procedures.
4. Knowledge of industry-standard cleaning techniques and materials.
5. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects safely, consistently, throughout the workday.
6. Excellent time management skills.
7. Keen eye for detail and a commitment to thoroughness.
8. Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
9. Physical endurance to stand, bend, and lift throughout the duration of shift.
10. Negative TB/PPD (Tuberculosis) Screening (within last 12 months).
11. Health examination (within the last 12 months)
11. Criminal background check clearance through DBHDD/DCH vendors
12. First Aid/CPR
13. Must have professional and positive attitude, that reflects flexibility and accountability
14. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds (race, gender, ethnicity, disability)
Responsibilities:
1. Clean and disinfect restrooms, kitchens, and common areas following agency policies.
2. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
3. Empty and properly dispose of trash and recycling materials.
4. Dust and sanitize surfaces using approved cleaning materials.
5. Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed while adhering to agency policy.
6. Report any maintenance or repair issues promptly to management.
7. Adhere to cleaning schedules and procedures outlined by Director/HR.
8. Ensure spaces are returned to their original state, after events.
9. Accepts constructive criticism, as appropriate.
10. Avoids gossiping and/or any behavior that negatively impacts service environment
11. Provide oversight/assistance, as needed, regarding health and safety standards
12. Willingly takes on additional tasks
13. Completes duties without reminders
14. Promotes agencys mission, vision, and values
15. Maintains clean and safe work environment
16. Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required by law and/or agency
17. Completes all duties assigned by Supervisor/Director
18. Assumes responsibility for care of the facility, grounds, equipment, and furnishings
19.Participates in personal work evaluations
20. Maintain consistent attendance, according to assigned work schedule
21. Punctuality - Reports to work on time
22. Maintain and submit weekly cleaning checklist/log to HR/Director
Competency:
- Fluent in English (Reading and Writing)
