HAPO is now accepting applications for a Facilities Engineer in Tri-Cities, WA. We are seeking an individual who is ambitious, self-motivated and who strives to represent HAPO’s core commitment “Be in the Moment” and standard of service “Defy Expectations” with our members, community as well as the team they are a part of. A Facilities Engineer is responsible for performing preventive, corrective and routine building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry; electrical; plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) on all facility and building systems. Performs other general tasks for the maintenance and upkeep of grounds, facility and site as required. Completes specialized repairs in areas of technical expertise. In coordination with the Support Services Manager, the Facilities Engineer coordinates and oversees facility renovation and modernization projects and will carry out projects in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

This position may be filled as a Facilities Engineer I, II, or III, depending on the selected candidate’s experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capabilities.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

• Perform basic preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance on facilities, grounds, and building systems, including interior and exterior components, lighting, signage, and equipment.
•  Repair basic level issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, doors, locks, HVAC components, and general building infrastructure. 
• Assists with more complex work under direction
• Support snow removal operations, emergency maintenance responses, and janitorial issues as needed.
• Work with Branch personnel to perform inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, or code compliance issues. 
• Assist with facility improvement, renovation, or modernization projects.
• Ability to work with third-party contractors or vendors for assigned maintenance or repair tasks. 
• Operate company-provided vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly. 
• Assist with the setup and teardown of onsite and offsite events, including evening or weekend work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of facility maintenance trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to operate various maintenance tools, equipment, and vehicles (as applicable).
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills with employees, members, vendors, and management.

Requirements: 

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Ability to maintain a driving record that meets HAPO’s Corporate Vehicle Policy Standards as a required job function.

Location: On-Site Richland (WA)- The role involves routine travel to various HAPO branches, including outlying regions. Certain assignments may necessitate overnight travel.

Schedule:

• Ability to work 35–40 hours per week, generally scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
• This is an On-Call position that requires flexibility to occasionally adjust hours based on operational needs, including early starts, late evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

Starting Pay Range (DOE): $21.07- $45.02

We’ve structured this pay range to be inclusive of both emerging and seasoned talent, and offers will align with the level (Facilities Engineer I, II, or III) based on experience and qualifications. Most candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on experience and qualifications.
